Rope Assessments

I, once again, had a very warm welcome down at PGL Boreatton Park for the latest round of rope assessments. I was running bottom top roping, abseiling, ropes course access and zip wire assessments over the last 4 days. Thankfully, the weather was nice and dry.

The weather turned out to be just perfect for an Association of Mountaineering Instructors trainee workshop. The plan was to cover short roping with trainee candidates who are progressing through their Mountain Instructors Award qualification. We elected to go onto the east face of Tryfan and made an ascent of Bastow Buttress Variant (2/3) and then we descended North Gully and Little Gully (1/2). We had a constructive time and managed to have most of the crag to ourselves. The team consisted of (left to right) Pete, Steve and Matt.

A dry day at Tremadog!

I was running an AMI trainee workshop today with the aim of the day being slick multi pitch climbing. Well, with a pretty rubbish forecast Rob, Sam and myself agreed that Tremadog was the best bet as the worst of the weather was due to come from the east. To cut a long story short we were blessed with dry rock all day and I managed to cover almost everything that I needed to cover. We were back at Eric's Cafe by 4.30 just in time for the first clap of thunder. Result!! We climbed, abseiled, stance managed, rope managed, time managed and chatted our way up Oberon and Yogi.
