Glen Coe and fresh snow!

We took a risk that the conditions in Glen Coe would be OK but even though we had light winds and blue sky's we, unfortunately, were confronted with deep fresh snow with no base.
The walk up to Stob Coire nan Lochan was very pleasant as we approached the main crag we discovered that the snow was unconsolidated and was really hard going through the bolder field to the base of the crag. We were looking at SC Gully but decided that NC Gully would be better but by the time we got to the bottom of the route the snow conditions were worse than ever so we turned back.

A dry day at Tremadog!

I was running an AMI trainee workshop today with the aim of the day being slick multi pitch climbing. Well, with a pretty rubbish forecast Rob, Sam and myself agreed that Tremadog was the best bet as the worst of the weather was due to come from the east. To cut a long story short we were blessed with dry rock all day and I managed to cover almost everything that I needed to cover. We were back at Eric's Cafe by 4.30 just in time for the first clap of thunder. Result!! We climbed, abseiled, stance managed, rope managed, time managed and chatted our way up Oberon and Yogi.

Climbing Wall Award training - The Rock. Harlech

I finished off the CWA training course at The Rock (Harlech) this morning with a look at some coaching of movement skills as well as developing and improving personal leading skills. The 5 candidates who took part in the course seemed to enjoy the experience and now need to consolidate and practise the skills covered on the course.  It's a fantastic facility and I wish it all the success it deserves.

SPA Mock Assessment

I was working for the Outdoor Partnership again this weekend. I had one client on Saturday, we visited Pont y Gromlech in the morning and Lion Rock in the afternoon. Sunday was over at Willie's Crag in Ogwen (Photo) with two clients. The weather was great apart from some drizzle on Sunday afternoon which seemed to kick off the midges with a vengeance.
